Threat Intelligence

Threat intelligence is actionable information about existing or emerging risks that could affect an individual, company or organization.  Checkmate Strategic Services LLC produces threat intelligence for clients through systematic collection and informed analysis of a broad array of information sources. These include:

  • Social Media
  • Public Records
  • Court Records
  • Proprietary Databases
  • News Media
  • Governmental Agencies (i.e. U.S. State Department, Attorney General)
  • Organizations dedicated to tracking specific threats
  • Dissident groups
  • Confidential informants

The goal of this type of operation is to identify threat actors, assess risk level, and recommend suitable protective measures.  Depending on the client’s needs, Checkmate Strategic Services may provide:

  • Strategic Intelligence – Long-term risks and big-picture trends
  • Operational Intelligence – Short- to mid-term threats in specific regions or to ongoing operations
  • Tactical Intelligence – Real-time, event-based information which supports personal security plans or other actions
  • Identification of individual(s) behind harassment, allowing client to pursue legal remedies
  • Detection of surveillance or stalking before the threat potentially escalates to physical confrontation
  • Documentation of threats prior to legal coordination, criminal complaints or seeking a restraining order
  • Augmenting an individual’s background check with intelligence on potential behavioral or ideological risk indicators

Threats may be physical (surveillance, stalking, attack), criminal (theft, extortion), geopolitical or situational (protests, instability, travel risks), or risk to reputation. Once risks are identified and understood, Checkmate will work with clients to develop strategies to mitigate the threat.
